Borah Peak Scarps

Surface rupture (bare gravel slope in left foreground) along the Lost River Fault near Challis, Idaho. The scarp formed on October 8, 1983 during a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that caused the Lost River Range to rise about 1 foot. The adjacent Thousand Springs Valley dropped about 7 feet. View is south from Willow Creek.
